Westwind war bis zum 4.Lebensjahr erfolgreich auf der Rennbahn unterwegs. Nach einer leichten Sehnenverletzung, die aber vollständig ausgeheilt ist wurde er zum Reitpferd umgeschult. Dabei stellte sich heraus, dass Westwind vor allem Talent an den Geländehindernissen zeigte. Der junge Hengst ist außerdem sehr ausdauert, was auch eine Karriere im Distanzsport begünstigt. Er ist zwar noch keinen Distanzritt gestartet, aber mit etwas Training würde diese Disziplin seinem Laufwillen sicher entgegen kommen. Ansonsten ist der Hengst sehr menschenbezogen und freut sich über jede Zuwendung. Er versucht seinem Menschen alles recht zu machen und ist ein klasse Freizeitpartner.
Unerschrocken geht er im Gelände an jedem noch so schrecklichen Gegenstand vorbei und bleibt auch in Schrecksituationen recht gelassen. Wer diesen Hengst sein Eigen nennen kann wird sicherlich viel Freude mit ihm haben.
