Vom Anfang an zeigte sich Alma als sehr intelligent und interessiert ihrer Umgebung gegenüber. Eine Persönlichkeit mit viel Selbstbewusstsein und enormer Charakterstärke. Auf der Weide sieht man sie oft laufen und toben und man merkt, wie sie ihrer Mutter nacheifert.
Anderen Artgenossen gegenüber ist sie zickig und dominant. Auch wenn sie danach wieder in ihre Schranken gewiesen wird versucht sie es doch gerne immer wieder. Sie ist anderen Pferden gegenüber nicht aggressiv aber doch sehr bestimmt.
Unter dem Sattel ist Alma nicht immer einfach aber im Großen und Ganzen doch eine kooperative Partnerin.
