Arkad ist manchmal nicht leicht zu verstehen, denn er spielt sich als ziemliche Mimose auf, wenn er den Menschen noch nicht kennt. Weiß man davon nichts, wirkt er wie ein verängstigtes Hampelchen, der in jedem Zweig einen Geist und in jedem Busch ein Raubtier sieht. Überspielt man diese Situationen jedoch, werden sie sich langsam legen. Dann kann der Rappe auch am Putzplatz ordentlich stehen und sich lange putzen lassen oder im Sommer ausgiebige Duschen genießen.
Zwischen anderen Pferden fühlt er sich nicht ganz so wohl und ist auch eher ein Einzelgänger. Er meidet Konflikte und gibt sich nicht als sonderlich dominant. Lediglich rossigen Stuten schenkt er Aufmerksamkeit, damit hat es sich mit Hengstallüren aber auch schon wieder. Sind die Damen friedlich ist er es auch. In der Bahn kann er andere Pferde ganz gut ignorieren und macht auch keine Probleme.
Unterm Sattel muss man sich mit Ark erst zusammenraufen, denn anfangs macht er hier und da mal Seitensprünge, weigert sich in Ecken zu gehen und ist gerne mal verhalten. Dabei kann er Tempo und Schub entwickeln und fein an allen Hilfen stehen, sobald er sich an einen neuen Reiter erst einmal gewöhnt hat. Denn während er schnell lernt und eine gute Auffassungsgabe besitzt, sich von Turnierstress nicht beeindrucken lässt und auch eigentlich vor nichts Angst hat, braucht er lange, um sich an einen neuen Reiter zu gewöhnen und ist für Fremdreiter absolut ungeeignet.
