Amerigo ist ein charakterstarker und kraftvoller Zweibrücker-Hengst, der von seinen Eltern die Liebe für den Geländeparcours geerbt hat. Im Dressurviereck und im Springparcours ists ihm meistens zu langweilig, er braucht die Weite und Unberechenbarkeit des Geländes. Dabei zeigt er sich unerschrocken. Ein Hase kreuzt den Weg? Kein Problem. Ein Reh springt vorbei? Es soll gleich mitmachen. Eine Kuh muht hinter dem Zaun? Amerigo wiehert zurück. Da wären wir auch schon bei seiner zweiten Eigenschaft: der Hengst ist sehr sozial und wäre er ein Mensch, wäre er für jeden Klatsch und Tratsch zu haben. Zwar muss er in seinen eigenen Paddock sein und nur auf abgetrennte Weiden, aber das hält ihn nicht davor ab über die Entfernung mit den anderen Pferden Kontakt aufzunehmen und zu „schnacken“. Man fragt sich wirklich das ein oder andere Mal, was die Pferde sagen würden, wenn sie reden würden. Genauso sozial ist er aber auch mit Menschen und er freut sich immer, wenn seine Reiterin vorbeikommt – auch wenn es nur für eine schnelle Schmuseeinheit und eine Möhre ist.
