Humphrey ist ein kräftiger, stürmischer und selbstbewusster gekörter Holsteinerhengst. Er ist recht dominant und zeigt doch recht gerne dass er Hengst ist, wenn Stuten in der Nähe sind. Humphrey braucht deshalb einen sehr selbstbewussten und sicheren Reiter, der sich von seinem Machogehabe nicht imponieren lässt und ihn konsequent vorwärts reitet. Er hat ein unglaubliches Sprungpotential, dies zeigt er jedoch nur wenn man ihn beherzt und mutig reitet. Er nimmt spielerisch hohe Hindernisse, aber eben nur dann wenn ihn sein Reiter fest im Griff hat. Ansonsten neigt er zum Durchgehen, oder bockt einen unsicheren Reiter auch gerne mal ab. Humphrey ist vor allem im Springen ausgebildet worden. Humphrey wäre sicher auch ein gutes Militarypferd, da er sehr mutig an Sprünge herangeht. Im Umgang ist Humphrey manchmal recht rüpelhaft und man muss ihm deutlich zeigen wo es langgeht, und sicher wäre es für ihn auch wichtig wenn er auch vom Boden aus etwas mehr Respekt hätte.
