Manolito von Merlin ist ein manchmal etwas überdrehter, junger Hengst.
Der körperlich doch eher kleine Falbe, wirkt oftmals schon sehr groß, wenn er sich beispielsweise aufspielt, wenn Stuten (außer seiner Mutter) in der Nähe sind. Dies ist für sein Alter relativ ungewöhnlich und so ist die Spannung groß, wie sich dieses Verhaltensmuster noch entwickeln wird.
Mit Sicherheit lässt sich jedoch sagen, dass Manolito auch später noch den temperamentvollen Vertretern seiner Rasse gehören wird. Dies sieht zwar oftmals gut aus, vor allem in der freien Bewegung, stellt aber auch einige Anforderungen an den Reiter beziehungsweise Pfleger. Dieser muss sicher in seinem Handwerk sein und sich Manolito ohne Angst nähern.
Wenn der Falbhengst jedoch erstmal etwas gesunden Respekt gelernt hat, so wird er sich wohl auch noch etwas beruhigen und auch mal still stehen können, wobei jedoch klar sein sollte, dass der Shetlandhengst sich wohl niemals zu einem absolut braven Knuddelpony entwickeln wird.
Doch Manolito hat auch noch eine ganz andere Seite. Wenn er seine fünf Minuten hat, dann ist er verspielt und teilweise fast etwas tollpatischig, wenn er zum Beispiel seine vier Beine nicht mehr so ganz geordnet bekommt und dann stolpert oder wilde Bocksprünge macht.
