Athene trägt ihren Namen nicht ohne Grund. Wie ihre mythologische Namensgeberin steht sie für Intelligenz, Strategie und Stärke – Eigenschaften, die sich in ihrem Wesen deutlich widerspiegeln. Sie ist eine elegante, großlinige und dennoch harmonische Stute mit einem wachen, aufgeweckten Charakter und einer bemerkenswerten inneren Stärke.

Ihre große Leidenschaft gilt dem Springen. Ob im Parcours oder im Gelände über Naturhindernisse – Athene blüht förmlich auf, wenn sie springen darf. Mit beeindruckender Springleichtigkeit, enormer Wendigkeit und viel Go meistert sie jede Aufgabe und zeigt dabei stets Übersicht und Mut. Auch Ausritte und Ponyspiele gehören zu ihren absoluten Lieblingsbeschäftigungen, bei denen sie ihre Vielseitigkeit und ihren Spaß an Bewegung auslebt.

In der Dressur liegt ihr Schwerpunkt weniger, dennoch bringt sie ausreichend Talent mit, um Aufgaben bis zur Klasse L zu bewältigen. Athene ist äußerst intelligent, nervenstark und grundsätzlich sehr verlässlich. Dennoch ist sie kein klassisches Kinderpony: Sie weiß um ihre Kraft, testet Grenzen und zeigt gelegentlich ihren eigenen Kopf – sei es durch einen Bocksprung oder ein kurzes Steigen. Wer jedoch fair, klar und konsequent mit ihr arbeitet, findet in Athene eine loyale und leistungsbereite Partnerin.
