Im allgemeinen Umgang
Flecky ist ein Knuddelpony, das man einfach gern haben muss. Mit ihrem Teddyfell und den hübschen Augen kann man ihr fast nichts abschlagen. Egal ob Leckerchen oder Streicheleinheit, für beides wird sie einen lieben und ihrerseits alles für einen tun. Besonders die Ohren sind ihre liebste Kraulstelle - um das zu zeigen, dreht sie einem den Kopf immer auffordern in der richtigen Position zu. Im Umgang ist Flecky meist brav und macht alles gut mit, egal was man von ihr verlangt. In neuen Situationen behält sie den Kopf und lernt schnell dazu, wenn es nicht gerade um Traktoren geht, vor denen sie als einziges ziemliche Angst hat. Wie wohl allen Ponys ist der Shetidame ein zeitweise ausgeprägter Dickkopf gegeben, dem ist aber gut mit Leckerchen oder Streicheleinheiten als Belohnung beizukommen. Wirklich sauer wird sie fast nie, nur beim Satteln muss man aufpassen, da kann sie auch mal schnappen. Dies ist jedoch nicht unbedingt bösartig, sondern beruht vor allem auf schlechten Erfarungen in der Vergangenheit. In eine Herde integriert sich Flecky gut und ist meist ranghöher, als man das wegen ihrer Größe vermuten würde. Sie ist schnell, selbstbewusst und wendig und versteht es so, sich durchzusetzen.
Bei der Arbeit
Flecky wurde bisher von einem Kind geritten und hat unter dem Sattel auch eine ziemlich gute Figur gemacht. Ob bei der Dressurarbeit oder in einem kleinen Parcours, die Maus ist immer voller Eifer dabei und scheint nie müde zu werden. Sie gibt gerne Gas, ist dabei aber trozdem relativ gut zu halten. Nur auf Turnieren wird die Kleine etwas nervös und versucht davon zu rennen. Am liebsten ist sie jedoch im Gelände unterwegs, umso weiter vorne in einer Gruppe, umso lieber. Nur ganz hinten ist sie schwer ruhig zu halten, da hat sie wohl Angst, nicht mitzukommen. Ansonsten ist Flecky immer für einen schnellen Galopp zu haben, bei dem sie auch größere Pferde spielend abhängt - klein, aber oho! Das bedeutet aber auch nicht, dass man nicht mal entspannt im Schritt die Zügel lang lassen kann. Die Ponystute ist eben ein Allroundtalent. Da die Kleine natürlich nur von Kindern regelmäßig geritten werden kann: Eine schöne Alternative zum Reiten wären Handpferdereiten und Fahren. Beides wurde noch nicht mit Flecky ausprobiert, aber sie wird es sicherlich schnell lernen können, und dann ebenso eifrig wie beim Reiten dabei sein. An der einfachen Longe geht sie sicher und beim Freispringen beweist sie Wendigkeit, Kraft, und noch mehr Mut. Mit ihr kann es einfach nicht langweilig werden.
